LA BOHÈME DES BOIS #13025

"La Bohème des bois" is the name that came to me spontaneously during the creation of this jewel. As you can see, all my jewelry is inspired from the Boho-Chic style, which is really trendy since a few years. I like this free spirit style, with which I identify very much. For me, "La Bohème des bois" (Bohemian woman of the woods) is a woman that I imagine to be free and unconventional; she lives close to nature, loves to recharge her batteries in the woods, and to be in communion with the elementals.

I see her smiling and enjoying the goodness that life offers her. She feels good about herself, and there's nothing like a swim at the lake, a walk in nature or dancing under the stars to be happy.

In a world where the pace of life sometimes becomes infernal and exhausting, I would like to inspire you to return to the source of what really matters: take the time to stop and enjoy the simple gifts of life and enjoy the beauties that surround us...

   Pink Martini is a cocktail that is well appreciated by ladies, but should be seen in several variations, all of which are mainly pink in colour. We can find the Cosmopolitan, the Pink lady, the Pink Flamingo, etc. Pink Martini is best known as the name of an American group of twelve Portland musicians characterized by a musical style that combines retro influences, jazz, Latin music, lounge, classical music as well as texts sung by China Forbes and Storm Large in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and many other languages. Composed of original songs and covers from all over the world, the group's repertoire is difficult to relate to a specific musical genre because it breaks down the "barriers" between music styles. The press described it as a "musical melting pot" and a "jukebox of multicultural influences and passions".

Pink Martini was founded by pianist and composer Thomas Lauderdale in 1994, who defines his musicians as "archaeologists" who are always looking for hidden treasures in recordings and music from the past. This mixture of modernity and old gives their melodies a "Technicolor" character. According to Thomas Lauderdale, Pink Martini is truly an American band. Having spent a lot of time outside the country, they have, according to him, a diplomatic opportunity to represent a larger and more inclusive America... America being the country with the most heterogeneous population in the world, it is therefore composed of people from all countries, all languages and all religions.

This is what Pink Martini is trying to show us: By mixing the musical origins of everyone, we obtain a result that is most pleasing to the ear!

ATLANTIS #13028

 Atlantis (from the ancient Greek Aτλαντίς), which means "Atlas Island", is a mythical city that apparently sheltered a very advanced civilization that suffered as divine punishment the disappearance of its island and sunk during the Greek prehistory. Atlantis is mentioned for the first time by the Greek philosopher Plato in two dialogues, Timaeus and Critias.
There is a character who tells Socrates and his comrades the very ancient story of Atlantis, as it would have been told to his grandfather by the great Solon, who himself would have learned this story from a priest of Saïs, during a trip to Egypt.

Of course, all these stories are mythical but they have struck the imagination so much that even today, several scientists, geologists, prehistorians, archaeologists, divers and many others are still trying to find the sunken ruins of Atlantis. Several theories are conducting research in different parts of the world, but the most likely place would be somewhere in the Atlantic.

This assumption is the most consistent with Plato's text: Atlantis is believed to be a gigantic continent that once found its place in the Atlantic, but was abruptly swallowed up by large-scale volcanic phenomena. Of this gigantic Atlantis, only a few small residual islands (such as the islands of Cape Verde, the Azores or Madeira) may remain on the surface of the ocean. This idea was first mentioned in the 16th century but especially in the 19th century, when traces of underwater seismic activity were discovered in the Atlantic. Myth or reality? No real discovery has yet convinced scientists of its existence; however, Atlantis still fuels the wildest fantasies.

Who knows if one day we will find answers? We now have some very advanced new technologies that may one day solve this great mystery...

PEACE #13029

 When I created this bracelet, I chose very soft colours that inspire an inner sense of peace. This peace that we all wish for, is not always as easy to experience as we think. Our negative thoughts, the fast pace of life in general and the challenges we encounter everyday mean that we often feel an inner stress that prevents us from living peacefully. It is therefore important to find a moment to relax and regain balance; you certainly know several methods to achieve this....

I also had in mind the hope of finding peace on this mistreated Earth, where people are torn apart by wars, differences of opinion, and the refusal to accept different people. We have felt this thirst for peace since the dawn of time and yet there is still so much to do to make it happen. I am thinking of the "Peace and Love" movement at the end of the 1960s, Martin Luther King, John Lennon and his song "Give peace a chance"...

Peace is achieved when people are able to resolve their conflicts without violence and can work together to improve the quality of their lives. It is also important to accept others regardless of their origin, beliefs, sexual orientation or gender.

Let us work together to build a better world, one moment at a time, so that everyone can finally live in peace... we fully deserve it!

MASSAÏ #13030

 The Massaï are those tall, thin men in red coats and ebony skin, emblematic of traditional and preserved Africa. They have been able to maintain their customs and way of life despite colonization and numerous attempts to expel them from their age-old habitat: the great plains of Tanzania and Kenya. This unique people still live in harmony with the savannah wildlife today; a value that is important to me and that has inspired me to create this jewelry from them. The survival of the Massaï still depends essentially on cattle breeding. They have long resisted political pressure to adopt a sedentary lifestyle based on agriculture. Semi-nomadic, they move annually on both sides of the border to feed their herds. This resistance helped to maintain a positive image of the Massaï among Westerners. In recent years, tourism has provided them with an additional source of income, including dance performances,sales of craftwork and visits to villages.

The Massaï love bright colours, especially during festivities and celebrations. Women also wear a lot of jewellery and often undergo body modifications (pierced earlobes distended by the weight of the earrings, extraction of front teeth). Very elegant, the moranes (young warriors) braid their hair and dye it with ochre earth, their colour thus matching that of their tunic.

There are various massaï dances; one of the best known is a form of competition between men, who have to jump as high as possible while keeping their feet together. They are champions in the field and it's very impressive to see!

There is so much more to say about them, but I wish you could at least, just for a moment, close your eyes and imagine yourself travelling through the African savannah with these brave warriors and feel the euphoria of adventure and the discovery of a unique and free people!
